Sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings... all new, all varied, all thrilling! Whatever you want to experience, wherever your dreams take you, those are the moments I want to help make real for you!
I believe in Content-Driven Leisure & Travel - travel that may be luxurious but does not have to be. I believe in Out-Of-The-Box Vacations for the "Intellectually Curious Traveler" (quote credit: Context Travel - https://www.contexttravel.com/content/about-us). I believe in the "Meaningful Traveler - the Adventurous Explorer, the Learning Family, the Social Voyager, and the Discerning Recharger." All people who are "ceaselessly curious about the world." (quotes credit: Princess Cruise Line)
I believe in meaningful, thoughtful, and thought-provoking travel. Extra-ordinary adventures that stimulate the mind as much as the emotions. If you can get to meaningful travel via a plane, a train, a car, a ship, a riverboat, etc...I am all about it! Hence, my company's name: "Extraordinary Adventures By Land & Sea."
I believe in diversity of offerings: active travel, thoughtful travel, relaxing travel, romantic travel. Where do you dream of? The castles and churches of Europe? The mosques of Turkey? Buddhist temples? An African safari? Alaskan hikes? Ski lodges? Over-the-top ocean cruises? Or the subdued passion of river cruises? If you love it, I love it too! And I can help bring it all to life for you!
Clearly, I have passionate beliefs, but how do they relate to my clients? ...to you? And this is where we may, regrettably, part ways or, hopefully, find a kindred spirit. While the family vacation is undeniably essential (and I am grateful my parents took me on them), there is only so much one can focus on before one becomes a "jack of all trades, master of none." And, while I would love to help everyone, my wife and I are a middle-aged couple without children. Could I help with a family vacation? Probably. Would an agent with children have a better understanding of your needs? Definitely. So, who am I best suited to help? I believe it is best to focus on what you know, so I have taken my passion and travel philosophy and focused them on the solo traveler, the couple, and the small group. (One caveat: if your children are older and mature, and do not have the special needs younger children have, your family would qualify as a small group.)
The other way in which my beliefs influence the relationship I have with my clients is that I specialize in the extra-ordinary. Many agents can handle a simple booking on a mass-market cruise line or a trip to Las Vegas, as can I. And if that is all you want, I am happy to do it. But, if you are looking for something special, something unique, something jaw-dropping, something eye-opening, something that makes your spirit soar and engages your mind, something that fills you with emotion, then you want an extraordinary adventure specialist - and that is me!
I am happy to help you plan a fully independent trip, but I also believe in guides. I believe in experts. Am I talking about lightening-fast bus tours with 60 other vacationers snapping photos as you fly by the sites? Heck no! Guides can be one-on-one, one-to-ten, or any other combination, but I never book my clients in the "sheep" method of touring. None of this has to be accompanied by luxury pricing, mind you. Which brings me to another thing I believe strongly in - value. Not price, but value. I will leave the price competition to Expedia and their kind. I am talking about paying the right price for the right fit for you and your travel needs. Sometimes that will mean paying up; other times it just means knowing the backdoors, tips, and tricks.
As to where on our extraordinary planet I focus my attention... The destinations I concentrate on are Germany (with extra consideration given to the Oktoberfest celebration), England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, South Africa, and the Caribbean. Can I work with you in other areas of our world? Sure. But, these are the areas I currently know best. They are subject to change as I myself travel and grow.
By what method do I help my clients get to these extraordinary destinations? Obviously, flying, public transportation, and rental cars are one way. But, there are plenty more. Have you considered a trip by rail in Scotland? What about a river cruise down the Mekong? Or an expedition cruise to Antarctica? There are all sorts of fun and enriching ways to see our world. We find them for you!
If you are attracted to the ideas I have spoken of here, then I am the specialist you are seeking to help plan your next Extraordinary Adventure!
