While Germany holds my heart and mind, my spirit soars with England, Scotland, and Ireland! These are my kind of people, and they have my kind of culture. Fortunately, the language barrier is minimal lol ;-) so diving right in is not only possible but inevitable, as it was for us in our first stop, Bath. They are warm and welcoming, and they always have a proper pint ready for you (and maybe a wee dram of whisky as well). But, they are definitely not all the same and to lump them in as one would be a mistake. To really learn what makes the Irish, Irish or the Brits, British, or a Scot, Scottish, you cannot just hop from Dublin to London to Edinburgh. Each country deserves a lengthy exploration to truly appreciate their respective histories, cultures, arts, nature, people, foods, and beverages. It also helps that we have good friends who live across the pond in Cheshire who acted as our own personal tour guides throughout Western England, including a small foray into Wales. Read all about it in our other blog post.
