The approximate cost* for this trip (as of 10/13/2019) is $5,500 - $6,000 per couple which includes...
|
* "Approximate Cost" - We're not a tour operator, which means we don't buy bulk products and then turn around and package them for purchase by clients. Those ARE locked-in rates. Our rates are NOT locked-in. Additionally, since we're not a tour operator, we don't hold space on flights or rooms in hotels. Thus, prices may increase as flights and hotels become booked - pricing and availability notoriously vary. Additionally, as hotels become booked (remember, some of these places in Scotland don't have a lot of rooms), people who join us may not be staying at the same hotels as we are. If this happens, we will do our best to find a hotel that is close to us. It is highly advisable to book early!
|
In order to keep the price down, we did our best to pick basic but clean, safe, comfortable hotels that are conveniently located near city centers or sites. However, they are not 4- and 5-star accommodations. If you'd like a nicer hotel, please let us know and we'll try to find you optional accommodations nearby.
If you decide to join us, we require you to purchase travel insurance with a "cancel for any reason" clause. We can provide you with an insurance quote if you'd like. You don't have to purchase it from us (which is why it's not included in the price above), but we do require it if you choose to join us. (If you purchase your own policy, proof can be provided via email.) |
Once again, we're not a tour operator, so there are no "deposits" and "final payments" like a cruise or a tour. We'll be purchasing things as we go. That said, the first things you'll have to purchase are the flights and the hotel in Edinburgh, as those are the things that will sell out the fastest. You also must purchase travel insurance immediately. (Most, if not all, insurance providers mandate that their policy must be purchased at the time of the first purchase for a trip.) Expect about $2,000 - $2,500 for those 3 things. Next, we would purchase the tickets for the Military Tattoo. Tickets go on sale on December 2nd and will sell out rather fast.

Following that, payments for additional items will be more spread out. They will include the following excursions/activities (which are already included in the above price quote):
|
The most restrictive carrier in our plan allows for a maximum checked luggage of 20 kg (across a number of bags) which is roughly equivalent to 44 lbs. Passengers may also carry one item of hand luggage weighing up to 6 kg only and with a maximum dimension of 40 cm X 35 cm X 18 cm (including handles and wheels). However, we highly suggest you bring less. We'll be traveling from town to town and it's not easy to carry heavy luggage from place to place. We recommend bringing just one backpack and possibly a second smaller day bag that you would take on day trips.
You can experience all 4 seasons in one day in Scotland, so it is recommended to bring layers of clothing that you can take on and off to regulate your temperature. Also, assume it will rain at least part of every single day, so bring sturdy, waterproof walking shoes or boots, a raincoat, and a small umbrella. We won’t hold up the group so you can go to the store because you didn't heed this warning. Prepare in advance! This tour is customizable so if you're only able to get away for a week, we can alter it so you can leave at a time that works best for you. |
